Islets of Hope where to donate diabetes supplies in Virginia |

|
VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT DONATING SUPPLIES! Many organizations are in need of donations of new, unexpired diabetes supplies to redistribute them to those in need. Please do not send expired items as they cannot be used. Some places only accept unopened items so contact the organization before sending your donation. Federal law (and most states, too) prohibit the re-distribution of EXPIRED or blood- contaminated (used meters and lancets) medical items. Please do not send used meters and lancets or expired medical items to charitable organizations. EXPIRED ITEMS must be thrown away and are not tax-deductible as they have no value.

Website: http://www.healthycommunitymhc.org/ and Education Center Tax receipt for donations? Yes. Information supplied by this organization - We are the healthcare program of a charity in Martinsville, Henry County, and Patrick County, Virginia. We give free diabetes education classes, and try to find free or discounted diabetes supplies for the uninsured or underinsured people in our area. We used to be a manufacturing/textile center, but all the mills and most of the factories have shut down. When people lost their jobs, most also lost their health insurance and any prescription assistance. We need donations of items we can pass along to those in need including meters, test strips, books, magazines, etc. We cannot dispense medicine (i.e., insulin or oral diabetes medications). If you need any additional information, please email or call Suzanne Britt at (276) 956-3587. Thank you very much. |
