Islets of Hope Discussion list sponsorships Islets of Hope is owned by Lahle Wolfe, who not only has diabetes herself, but also has a diabetic child. If you try and "dupe" IOH or make false, unethical, or illegal claims in your ad that take advantage of our site visitors, be aware the we will rate your company, by name, and based on factual data, report all "evil" doings on our list of "Snake Oil" companies. Mini site index What is list sponsorship?
What is list sponsorship? List sponsorship is paying for the placement of a header or footer on a particular list that helps to cover the cost of list maintenance. Think of list sponsorship as "brought to you by..." List sponsorship allows you text-based ads to be placed either as a header or footer (we decide based on the list and size of the ad you want to run) on a specific discussion list. Every time a member posts to the list your ad will appear in the e-mail posted, along with the IOH notation that you are sponsoring the cost of running the support list. Only one sponsor at a time is permitted on a list so you won't be competing with anyone else. Whether there are 50 members on a list or 1,000, the price is the same. We don't disclose information about our list members and you do not have to belong to a list to advertise on it. Your ad will be seen by all the list members every time a message is posted to the list. Some lists are more active than others but sponsorship is a great way to ensure your ad is being seen and to demonstrate that you cared enough about diabetes to sponsor a list's activities. Because of the list-serve program, we are unable to use .html codes, hyperlinks, or images. Only text will work but you can include the text version of hyperlinks. Choosing a list(s) to sponsor You can choose to sponsor any of our lists as long as another sponsor is not currently advertising on that list. It helps to know what each list is about because some lists may be more suited to a particular product or service. Visit our Online Discussion Groups page to see what lists we offer, and to read a brief description about each list. You do not have to promote diabetes-related products or services but you if you are a member of the diabetes business community (you, your spouse, or your child has diabetes) you might want to offer that information. Length of sponsorship Lists can only be sponsored for one month at a time but you can continue to sponsor a list for as long as you wish in one-month increments. Headers and footers The size of header (top of page) and footer (bottom of page) ads are determined by you. However, typically, these types of ads work better when they are not excessively long. Headers in particular, should be fairly brief, because they are the first thing seen on the e-mail document when viewed. It is our experience that if headers are long, they visually interfere with the reader's focus and tend to be ignored or worse -- regarded as "annoying." Footers are a great place to put more detailed information. They have less "immediate visual impact" because they go after the end of the email, but long footers are usually not considered "offensive" as a long header would and are more likely to be completely read. If your ad is too long, or otherwise not drafted for what we know works best with headers and footers, we will offer recommendations as to how you can improve your chances of your ad being read. We reserve the right to reject any ads that do not meet our standards. Please read "Advertising Rules" for more information. Our list server uses a "default" font (looks like New Roman Times) and html codes will not work with Mailman lists (our webmail and support list host). The freebie option Due to the administrative work involved in dealing with headers and footers on lists (it is time consuming) we do not offer free list sponsorhsip. But we are willing to help nonprofit organizations get the word out when they are actively fundraising. Please read our Rules for Advertising BEFORE you submit an ad to us. The at-cost option List sponsorship allows you text-based ads as a header or footer (we decide) on a specific discussion list. Every time a member posts to the list your ad will appear along with the IOH notation that you are sponsoring the cost of running the support list (and a thank you). Only one sponsor at a time is permitted on a list so you won't be competing with anyone else. If there are 100 members on a list, your ad will be seen by all 100 members every time a message is posted to the list. Some lists are more active than others but sponsorship is a great way to ensure your ad is being seen and that you care. Because of the list-serve program, we are unable to use .html codes, hyperlinks, or images. Only text will work but you can include the text version of hyperlinks.
If you wish to have graphics, large, or banner ads, sorry, we need to charge you something or we could end up with advertisers driving up our costs to run our site. We don't want that because we give half of all our site proceeds to diabetes causes that directly benefit persons in need. Those who qualify for at-cost advertising include:
