Access West Virginia - AccessWV is a health plan created by West Virginia statute to provide health insurance to West Virginians who have been unable to find or who have been denied health insurance in the private market because of a medical condition. Children's Health Insurance Program - The WV Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), was signed into law on April 9, 1998, to provide children in West Virginia whose household incomes are up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level with access to health care coverage. To obtain additional information contact your local Department of Health and Human Resources office or Client Services line at 800-642-8589. Emergency Assistance - The Emergency Assistance Program is used to assist individuals and families in meeting a financial crises when they are without available resources. The program is designed to provide short-term emergency financial assistance with which eligible individuals and families may obtain items or services needed to eliminate an emergency or crisis. Items of need include rent, utilities, food, household supplies, clothing, transportation and medical service. Assistance is limited to one 30 consecutive day period during any 12 consecutive months.

Medical Transportation Assistance - Recipients of Medicaid and recipients of the Children with Special Health Care Needs program may request reimbursement for the cost of transportation associated with receiving medical services. Payments are made to the client or the transportation providers and can include meals, lodging and turnpike tolls when required. Contact your local DHHR office for eligibility guidelines.
