Oregon - State Insurance and Assistance Programs for Persons with Diabetes

State Resources for Obtaining Health Insurance & Prescription Assistance Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP) - State Health Insurance - OMIP was established in 1989 by the Legislature to provide health insurance to residents of Oregon that have been denied individual health coverage from private sources due pre-existing medical conditions. OMIP provides health coverage in certain circumstances when an individual exhausts or is unable to obtain COBRA or health insurance portability coverage (HIPA), and for individuals who are eligible for a health coverage tax credit through the federal government. Oregon Department of Human Services - Assistance programs Family Health Insurance Assistance Program (FHIAP) - FHIAP is a subsidy program that helps families pay for health insurance premiums (monthly cost). FHIAP does not pay for office visit copays or deductibles. Both individuals (those who can't get insurance through their job) and group members (those who can get insurance through their work) are eligible to apply. Oregon Prescription Drug Program (OPDP) - FREE Enrollment! ALL Oregonians can now join and save up to 60% on prescription drugs with the highest discount on generics. There is no paperwork required and no age or income limit. Easy enroll online. Oregon Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program (SPDAP) - This program charges participants a non-refundable $50 fee each year. SPDAP
began before Medicare Part D went into effect.
Since then, the Legislature also approved the new FREE Oregon Prescription
Drug Program. The Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program (SPDAP) allows members of the
program to purchase prescription drugs from participating pharmacies at the
State Medicaid rate. The SPDAP is administered by the DHS Office of
Medical Assistance Programs (OMAP). However, it is not a Medicaid
