National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri - Improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney and urinary tract diseases, as well as providing emotional support to transplant recipients and donor families, is at the heart of the Patient Services Program. An active Medical Advisory Board and Ethics Committee are available to assist families and professionals making difficult decisions.  Direct services include:

• Lifesaving medical identification jewelry free to all kidney patients and transplant recipients.
• Financial assistance grants for those with little or no income to provide emergency relief for bare necessities such as rent, utilities, medications and transportation.
• Nutritional supplements are provided to low-income patients who meet specific dietary guidelines.
• Literature library offers extensive information on kidney disease and related topics.
• Speakers, including patients and professionals, are available to address clubs, organizations, churches and companies.
• Organ donor cards are distributed free of charge.
• Also offer free kidney function screening - Participants with abnormal results are encouraged to contact their primary physician for further tests and treatment. If a patient does not have access to medical care, referrals are given to one of the clinics where NKF has cooperative arrangements.
