Tips on How to Find Diabetes and Other Assistance Programs
Where to StartStart by calling your local hospital, doctor, or health and social services department for your county. Another good place to start is by calling your local United Way office. United Way funds many local nonprofit organizations and can usually refer you to resources in your own area that might not be listed in other places. If you are looking for patient assistance programs for medications the following websites offer free patient assistance program databases that can be very useful for finding programs, learning about eligibility requirements, and even downloading applications: Another free patient resource is a new nonprofit called SlashDrugCosts (SCD). The organization was founded by others who had trouble finding assistance programs. The volunteers at SDC will help you find resources. There is also a forum where you can discuss your needs with others who have also needed and found help. This is a great place to find out from others in need programs that they were able to find. WIN 2-1-1 - The 2-1-1 System connects people with needed human services through an easy to remember three-digit phone number, the web and a variety of community interactions.
